Trust in Change

Nature changes and adapts constantly and we can too. By being aware of our surroundings (people and place) and connected to our thoughts and feelings. We do this by taking a moment to take a breath, one that pauses in order to consider the situation and before responding.

Change is difficult because we are facing an unknown and we have a loss of control from what is our normal. And our normal is what comforting to us.  It is up to each of us to access and decide what action we will take, or if we will just observe and let the situation evolve.

Change can be the cause of our great suffering and the cause of tremendous growth, in any individual. It all depends on how you feel about and deal with any issue or situation that presents itself to you.  So when unexpected or unwanted changes come at you, here are helpful ways you can deal with it:

  • Evaluate you place in the situation – what options are there?
  • Find your priorities – what are your pros and cons.
  • Stay in the present moment.
  • Make mindful choices – find the balance between you heart (feelings) and mind (common sense) when you can.

When we learn to cope with change, we lower our risk of anxiety and depression. When we go into situations of change with clear options, we can be resilient to the situation and have the opportunity to both grow and thrive. Be resilient, be flexible, stay present, think positively and most importantly, keep going.

Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future?”
