¡Al Sauve! For the sake of the animals

Costa Ballena is located in one of the world’s richest natural areas. Nearly 2% of the world’s biodiversity is found in the Southern part of the country, specifically in Corcovado National Park.

But nature is not static; it is dynamic, and animals are constantly moving throughout our territory in search of food, shelter, to reproduce, in response to changes in environment, for many reasons.

Just in driving from Ojochal to Dominical it is possible to see anteaters, coatis, raccoons, howler monkeys, iguanas, and even felines like ocelots and pumas. Unfortunately, this list includes animals we have seen run over on the highway, and many pass every day.

The high season is upon us and the flow of traffic and people visiting our area increases, so what can we do? Well, as we Costa Ricans say, llevarla suave (take it easy) and drive responsibly.

By sharing this message, and heading it’s warning you could have a positive impact on Nature. Please be aware Costa Ballena is blessed to be located in a major corridor for large cats and they are on the move!
