Ojochal Costa Rica - Costa Pacifica Living

Ojochal de Osa

With stunning ocean and mountain views, Ojochal calls itself home to many bed and breakfasts, boutique hotels and has gained a reputation of being the heart of fine dining in Costa Rica.

Ojochal is a quiet village, deriving its name from the Ojoche tree, is home to many long time expatriates and returning snow birds alike. One would not believe that just 15 years ago the land was barren, completely cut down and used as cattle pasture. It was not the lush mountain forest we know it as today.

Ojochal’s reputation as a gourmet hub is perhaps due to the international community that has flocked south. There are many fine dining options available such as Mediterranean, French Fusion, to traditional Tico style with flare. Although this pueblo is a little off the beaten path, the jungle serves as the perfect backdrop to an amazing meal.

Ojochal is well known for its large Canadian, and specifically for its French-Canadian expatriate community. People wave as they drive by, whether you are a newcomer or not, and just after a few days you’re sure to run into someone you now know. Fascinating stories always seem to light up conversations at the various social events held throughout the year.

Additionally in Ojochal, there is a school, a few local churches and an abundant wildlife of birds and flora. Therefore, if you are looking to find some calm or raise your family in a residential area, this quaint village offers a perfect setting, and the community will always make you feel welcome.
