Costa Ballena is the ideal paradise for surfers of all ages and experience during the green season. Between the Bohemian style beach community of Dominical to the more active area of Uvita around the national park, there are waves of all sorts.
During the green season of Costa Rica, the weather is ideal for early morning surfs and cool crisp days that attract tons of swell. Uvita with good fun waves during the green season at Playa Chaman & Hermosa are both the main breaks in Uvita and ideal spots for beginners. Playa Dominical and areas around Dominical have great peaks up and down the sandy beach bottom and it attracts all kinds of swells. In the southern zone in Costa Rica, we have peak months with good size during May and April, but waves peak up before raining season and the best waves we get all year come right at the start of the green season. No matter if it is 2 foot or 8-foot waves the beaches are always working and fun conditions for all surfers. Surfing along the Ballena Coastline is also a great way to meet people in our community who come from all parts of Costa Rica and other countries. We are truly a boutique community with international roots from all over the world and surfing brings a lot of us together.
