With high season upon us, it’s easy to get caught up in summer vibes. One thing’s for sure, slowing down is key to enjoying your time along the coast. With the explosion of people, both tourists, immigrants and Tico’s themselves, road safety is a must on the carretera, as the highways are packed more than ever, unexpected construction and detours are to be expected. With more pressure on infrastructures, and the great migration underway, patience is a virtue and more so, slowing down is the most important part of staying in those pura vida vibes.
Stop to see the little things
With a little one in tow I have learnt to stop and take in those moments where we listen to the birds sing and watch the minuscule insects as they go along their way. Pointing out critters and getting down to eye level with one inch long insects can be just as interesting as spotting a two toed sloth in the distant trees, and it can most definitely be awe-inspiring to witness the sheer ordinance of ants as they march towards their goal of building their nest. My advice, stop to take it all in, the big, the small and the tiny.
It’s about the authenticity
When taking in the breathtaking views remember travel that changes us, is when we connect with the land, people and experiences. Locals are easy to connect with and have a wealth of knowledge to share. If you have travelled to other Central American countries, you’ll know the vibe is unmatched in Costa Rica. They are amongst the happiest people and once you have spent any decent amount of time in the country you will soon find out why. The beaches, nature, mountain, and even rain, it all contributes to factors that make it one of the best Blue Zone’s in the world!
